Brownie recipes are fairly common. There are about a million brownie recipes out there whice use similar ingredients and yield similar results. It's hard to mess up brownies. Having said this, here is yet another recipe for brownies, one that I make when I want something sweet that is easy to make. The recipe is from SACO brand's premium cocoa container. I use this type of cocoa in many of my recipes, it is a blend of both natural and Dutched cocoa's and lends a very rich chocolate taste to your baked goods. Another plus is this cocoa is fairly inexpensive.
I think the SACO cocoa container is charming too!
Fudgy Cocoa Brownies
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup SACO premium cocoa
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional), or in my case I skip the nuts and add 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
*Double the recipe for a 9X13 pan
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8X8 inch pan, or a 9X13 if you are doubling the recipe.
Melt butter.
Add cocoa and stir until well blended.
Add sugar and mix well.
Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well.
Stir in vanilla, flour and salt. Do not overbeat.
Fold in nuts, or in my case, chocolate chips. Spread in prepared pan and bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out just clean for 8X8 pan. Bake 35-40 minutes for 9X13 pan (double batch). Cool, cut and serve!

Hi Kim,
I'm so glad you put chocolate chips in your brownies instead of nuts! One of my (many)mantras is: "Don't put nuts in my ice cream, don't put nuts in my cookies and don't ever, ever, ever put nuts in my brownies." I just KNEW you were my kinda girl. Laurie and I are finally supposed to meet this week...will be so happy to get your gift!
xo
